The Centerville-Washington Township Americana Festival has an annual scholarship competition for Centerville-Washington Township residents.  There are three divisions, with a total of 8 scholarships to be awarded: 

*Middle School:  6th, 7th, 8th grade students (3 scholarships, one winner from each grade, $600 each)
Essay topic:  What individual, who was not a United States President or Founding Father, best embodies the ideas of freedom and bravery?
*High School:  Graduating Seniors (3 scholarships, $1600, $1000, $800)
Essay topic:   Name a time when you, or someone you personally know, acted in a way that embodied the ideas of freedom and bravery?
*College: college student who will be under 21 years of age on the 4th of July (1 scholarship, $1600)
Essay topic:   Name a time when you, or someone you personally know, acted in a way that embodied the ideas of freedom and bravery?
**Joe Bowlus Community Service Award:  High School and College applicants only (One  Scholarship, $800)
The recipient of the Joe Bowlus Community Service Award is selected from among Essay contest applicants by a select committee appointed by the Americana Festival President. The Bowlus Community Service Award is based upon the quality and quantity of the applicant's service to his or her community. Only High School and College applicants are eligible.
Scholarship winners are based on Essay, Community Service (HS/College only), and an Interview (HS/College only)
5 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
All application packets must be returned to The Americana Festival Scholarship Committee P.O. Box 41794, Centerville, Ohio 45441-0794, delivered to the Americana Office Second Floor,
Town Hall, 27 North Main Street, or submitted via email to americanafestival@sbcglobal.net Deliveries to the Americana office must be scheduled by calling 433-5898.

The Centerville- Washington Township Americana Festival is an annual 4th of July Celebration. More than 75,000 people attend the festival each year, with over 100 volunteers assisting in the activities. This year's 5K run, parade, festival, car show and fireworks will be held on July 4, 2014. The theme is "A Star Spangled Fourth." Celebrate our Country's independence at the annual Americana Festival in Centerville/ Washington Township, Ohio. Join us as our community celebrates with a calendar of activities for the entire family over the Fourth of July Holiday.

It was $1.22 for a gallon of gas, $1.38 for a pound of hamburger, and $4.59 for a movie ticket. Tha movie ticket got us in to see The Fully Monty, Men In Black,a nd one of the most awarded and expensive films ever made- Titanic. It was 1997.
